CASology: Week 182 ADORE Challenge

I have been trying to keep busy since I injured my ankle and I'm looked in the franken boot. UGH! So, what better way than to craft. It keeps me from going stir crazy. I have not played in many challenges in the first month of this year, but I'm ready to get back to it.

This little guy is so adorable and I thought he was perfect for the ADORE challenge over at CASology. The card base is 80lb white CS the background is watercolor paper that has been distress inked with festive berry, spiced marmalade and mustard seed. I used my distress sprayer to add some splotches and splattered it with mustard seed and festive berry using a paint brush.

The Image is from Whiff of Joy "Henry with a Heart" he is copic colored and then fussy cut. I mounted him with 3M foam mounting tape to give a bit of dimension. The sentiment is card stock that has been distress inked with the same colors as the back ground and them cut out with a set of Quickutz word dies. I used several layers of the word dies to also give a bit of dimension. The heart and sentiment was then colored over with a little Wink of Stella to give a bit of shimmer.

Hope you like the little guy, I know I sure do. Also, go see some of the other great cards at CASology.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting!!!!

CAS On Sunday Challenge # 75 Paper Piecing

Good Sunday to you all and what a beautiful day it is here in Texas, sunny and warm. It s a nice break from the cooler weather, but all good things must end and it is about to cool off here starting tonight. The pretty weather made me think about all things out doors. So, I thought I would break out my new Skater Kids set I just got from Simon Says Stamp and play along with the Paper Piecing challenge at CAS On Sunday.

The card is 4 1/4 X 5 the base is made from 80 lb. white card stock. The back ground is a combo of PP from The Paper Studio, Raven CS from Bazzill and a watercolor paper that I used distress ink on the colors are festive berry, spiced marmalade and mustard seed. the bottom was die cut with a paper smooches edge die.

I embellished the card with various Washi tapes, sequins and enable dots. The little skater dog is stamped with momento black tuxedo ink and colored in with copic makers and his pants and shirt are paper pieced from solid red CS that I stamped and the shirt too. The sentiment is also part of the Skater Kids stamps set. The dog and his board were fussy cut.

Hope you enjoyed todays creation as much as I did making it.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting!!!!

Time Out Challenges #45 Snowflakes are Winters Butterflies

The Challenge is Snowflakes here is what Time Out Challenges had to say:

We have our 'Inspired by Word' challenge for you this fortnight. And the phrase we have for you is:

Snowflakes are Winter's Butterflies

For this challenge, you can use any of these words to inspire you or you can use the whole phrase-you choose.  Perhaps you need more Christmas cards?  Then snowflakes might be a good choice! A bit fed up with Christmas cards?? Then butterflies might be the answer. We know some of you have sentiments with that exact phrase, so we are expecting to see that too!!

Here is my take on the challenge:

The card was made using Neenah solar white card stock in 80# weight, so keeping with the snowflake theme, the base of the card was embossed in the cuttle bug with an older snowflake plate I had. The image is from Whiff of Joy, artist is Elisabeth Bell, stamp name Herb the snow man. He is colored in using topic markers, and highlighted with wink of stella and sakura jelly roll pens. the image was cut out with a spellbinder and back in a light blue Bazzill paper also cut out with spellbinder die cut and pop dotted to the card base.

I'm also entering this in Simon Says Stamp " Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge "

Happy Monday and Happy Thanksgiving week to our US friends. Julee has created this fun sketch for you this week, we hope you find time during the festivities to play along with us.

Here is my take on Julee's sketch:

This card made me feel a little vintage today. I did a very clean and simple card on this challenge.

Card was created using an old PP paper line form Basic Grey called "Jovial", Bazzill kraft, brown and Neenah solar white card stock 80#. The stamped sentiment is from 4 Klear stamps the ink used is archival in Coffee, the die cut is the TH deer mini with 3M foam tape and snow flake sequins glued on with Aleen's tacky glue. Sorry about the cell phone snap shot, I was just to lazy to get the Nikon. Although I will say, I think the cell phone does a better job with the color.

I'm so excited I stumbled across a new blog today. The Naughty or Nice Challenges they have a really fun challenge going this month "Monochromatic" I have colored the perfect card for this and I'm so glad I get a chance to enter it here. The design is a digital download Mandela from Fred She Said Designs. It was colored in using Copic Markers, hand cut and stacked with pop dots. It is embellished with Stickles and rhinestones. It reminded me of a snow flake and I got a free die from Taylored expressions and it ended up being perfect for the card title. The paper used for the die cut was Bazzill.

Charlie and Dog Revisited " A Farewell to Whiff of Joy"

WOW! Its been a long time since I have visited and updated my blog. It feels good to be back and sad at the same time. I see a lot folks have stopped crafting or are gone. Time changes things in amazing ways. I've been gone due to a serious spinal injury and surgery. I'm back and in amazing shape thanks to one of the most talented and wonderful surgeons in Houston. Thank you Dr. Shih for giving me my life back.

So now on to my card creation, this is an old Whiff of Joy stamp that had been collecting dust and was being neglected. This was the very first stamp I had ever purchased on line. I figured this was a great place to get started again and I was pleasantly surprised with what the end result was. I hope you enjoyed seeing him again as much as I did. On another note about this stamp I discovered that Whiff of Joy is going out of business. Their last day open online will be November 28, 2015. Please go visit them for there farewell. I wish her well and all good things to  come in the next year.

Whiff of Joy I will miss you, You have brought me great joy.

R #70 Ribbons

Hi Crafty Friends,

Hope Friday found you doing well. We have been so busy at work with our office putting in a new computer program I lost track of time and forgot to post sorry it's posted so late. The challenge this week at Crafts 4 Eternity is "Ribbons"!!! I love ribbon, but I'm kind of challenged when it comes to using it. I hope you like this weeks design.

The stamped image is " Daisy" an Elisabeth Bell design stamp. This was colored with distress ink on cold press water color paper. The printed paper is some left over stash I had from Basic Grey and the flowers are prima that have been highlighted with stickles in star dust. The leaves are punched from an EK success punch. Hope you have fun creating.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting!!!!
