A Surprise

I was so surprised for my birthday when my very sweet sister and adorable little niece showed to surprise me for my birthday dinner. It has been so long since I had seen them and my how my sweet little Gracie has grown. I got a precious pic of her and her oldest cousin at dinner. What a cute pair. I did the digital scrap with my iPad and Coolibah app I love this thing.

An Experiment

Hi ya folks! Long time no see again. I have had an iPad for sometime now and was just wondering what it would be like to post from it. I am impressed so far. Let's see what happens when I add a picture. Hmmmm seems to be giving some problems with adding photos so off I go to the google machine to find out how to add photos while posting from an iPad.

Yeah! It worked I have to use photos from my flicker account and use HTML to download the photos to the blog. This so rocks! The photo is of an easel card I made with the cutest summer magnolia stamp. I love that stamp.

A Sweet Diaper Cake

The absentie blogger strikes again

Well as usual here it is several months later and I am posting. I so miss the days when I had enough time to post daily. I have created a new LO for the Local Scrapbook Store I am employed at. It is made from the "So Sophie" collection from My Minds Eye. I love the texture of this paper it draws me in every time. The photo was taken on my Cell phone so sorry about the poor quality. These are photos of my Daughter two years ago on prom night. All the girls were so beautiful that evening.

A Friendly Word Of Warning

I have been teaching the Copic Class in the Spring / Woodlands, TX area now for sometime and it has recently come to my attention that some individual or individuals may be trying to use my class curriculum for their own classes. I do not know this for sure or that this is even true nor will I lower myself to naming anyone, but I will let you know now that this is MY MATERIAL and as such I have a copyright to it and I have this posted on the side bar of my blog. The thing that is most frustrating to me about this is that it is all my hard work and effort that may be being used by someone who put no work into it at all. It is immoral,unethical and extremely unprofessional to use someone else's work!!! The only thing I have to add to this is when you take one of my classes the handouts I give you are for your personal use only and are not to to be used to teach others with or used for any other public Dissemination. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

A Blog Face Lift

Hello and long time no see I have been MIA for many months due to my teaching and work commitments and I am so glad to be able to drop a line or two I have decided to change up my blog a little. I have been bitten by the Twilight bug and I am in love with the whole thing. I had a good friend of mine do the title bar picture of my blog for me and yes those are my eyes! I just wish that was my real eye color they are actually blue green IRL. The past few months has kept me very busy with some amazing things. The first is that I have a wonderful group of Copic Students who I love coloring with very much they have been my heart and soul and supported me through this whole program to all of them thank you so much. The next item is that I will be starting my own rubber stamping company I am very fortunate to have some talented artists in the family who have agreed to help me on my way. Lastly I will no longer be teaching my Copic class at Lonestar Scrapbook company. I have decided to do private classes and I will have more information on this as times progresses. Well I hope you are having a great week.

I have so neglected my blog I sure do miss it. I have the most exciting news though, I finally got to take the Copic Marker Certification and it was fantastic. We were taught by Sally Lynn McDonald and she is AMAZING!!! Her Blog is called Inky Heart if you get a chance go by and take a look at her Beautiful blog. We also spent two fabulous days in San Antonio, TX on the gorgeous River Walk.

I have have been so busy at my new job and teaching at the local scrapbook store I feel terrible about not blogging but I hope to change that soon. I will teaching Copic classes at The Lonestar Scrapbook Company in Houston,TX starting in January 2010.

There's A New App In Town

I don't know how many of you out there have an iphone but I do and I love it. So yesterday, just out of curiosity, I thought I would see if there really "was an app for that" as the commercial says and low and behold there it was "Coolibah" an amazing little digi scrap app for iPhone. You must go by and see their blog and demo. I have been very happy with it and sat for 2 hours today in the doctors office waiting for my husband and created a few pages while I waited. This was so worth the 4.99 + .99 per kit for the digi kits. I am so excited to tell you all about it, but really go and see it for yourself you won't be disappointed. Another really nice thing about this app was I was able to email and text my creations to friends and family when I was done and I was even able to print it out too. I really do love this app.

Gosh! it has been a while since I have been in my blog. I feel so guilty about neglecting it. I have been very busy with a new project and job, there just does not seem to be enough time in the day to get things done. I am pleased to announce I will be going to San Antonio, TX in December to get my Copic certification and I also I have been working for a LSS and teaching altered projects. I have been visiting the Websters Pages web site for some recent inspiration and ran across their 12 Days of Christmas projects and I decided to play along. There was the most amazing shadow box created on the day one challenge so I decided to try out a regular box that recently found a tutorial for and I love how the Websters Pages worked out on the box. Thanks for the great inspiration and here is my creation.

Now here is the card I created from my sketch.

This card was made with Debbie Mumm's Noah's Ark Paper Collection and Bazzill textured papers in a baby blue and buttercup yellow. The image is "Edward Surfing" from Magnolia's Lazy Summer Days Collection. The Image is water colored with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and the embellishments are Candy Dots from Pebbles INC. The sentiment is one I purchased from Bugawumps.

Secret Crafter Challenge #50 / One For The Girls

I found another blog this evening and I have the perfect little ATC I created a few weeks ago but have yet to get to post it. The Challenge this week at The Secret Crafter is "One For The Girls". So now you see why she is so perfect for this challenge. The image I used is an Elisabeth Bell from SCACD, the image is water color painted with distress inks on an ATC sized illustration board. The sentiment is from Fiskars and she has been over sprayed with perfect pearls and water to give the card a glow.

Well as promised I am back with another project and this time it is not just a card. I love this time of year, Autumn, Fall or whatever you may call it seems so peaceful for me. I love the changing of the leaves and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I Won Some New Candy

I have had a most wonderful weekend. Good News for Tickers !!!

Well today brought good news for our little doxie girl Tickers. The vet examined her and said she is doing terrific and she even lost a pound during her confinement. This is wonderful news and we only have one and a half pounds left to loose. Her back is in good condition again and she is pain free. We are so thankful for the girls speedy recovery now we can start slowly taking her for walks and getting her back into her normal routines. Thank you to all the well wishers for your thoughts and prayers for the sweet girl.

Sorry about being MIA

Hello everyone,

I have been very busy with starting a new job and then we have also had a problem with one of our little dogs and this has taken up all of my extra time. She is a doxie and as such is prone to having back issues and last week she jumped off the couch and bulged a disc in her mid back. We were very blessed that it did not require emergency surgery at the time. The vet did inform us though it is not a matter of if she will need surgery for the protrusion, but when. The cost of this is in the range from $2,500.00 to $4,500.00, depending on the severity and location of the burst disc. I am just sick over the whole situation I have the money, but then I worry about her quality of life after surgery, due to the chance that she could be crippled even by the surgery or in chronic pain for the rest of her life. I just keep praying that this will resolve and we can have her healthy and happy again. Right now the little dear is asleep in her kennel and it will be her home for the next month.

We go back to the vet on the 24th of this month for a follow up and to discuss what to do next. So far everything is looking very good and she has not had anymore problems and does not seem to be in any pain, so we are at the wait and see stage. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I know to some this would seem silly to be so concerned about the dog, but she has been with me through some really tough times and is a part of the family, she is like one of the kids.

I hope to get some card crafting done this week and post some new goodies and try to relax. I am so sorry for not replying to those of you who have left comments, but I hope things will become more relaxed so I can. Hugs to you all!!!

The Next Level Issue #5 & Roses On Paper Challenge #14

The challenge this week over at The Next Level is a card sketch.

The catch to this is the stitching. I have to be honest with you I don't know how to sew. I just got my sewing machine a week ago and started tinkering with it. Well I have to say it has been a real experience after 2 broken needles, stitching my hand in the machine "OUCH!!!" and lots of broken thread I think I have gotten it under control. I have to give a super big thank you to True who did the amazing sewing tutorial 2 weeks ago. Her instructions were perfect and lead me through the process with real easy. I am also entering this in the ROP Challenge where they have asked us to create a card with flowers and link it to another challenge. Here is my take on this weeks sketch.

The Next Level Issue #4 - A Step Card

Our challenge this week at The Next Level is to create a step card. Well at first I thought OMG!!! I'm in over my head then I grabbed my trusty Scor-Pal and away I went,it was amazingly easy making the the base for the card. The rest just fell into place. The hardest part was cutting out those little mice. Here is my creation.

Tip of the week: When scoring the step card remember to flip the paper back and forth on the Scor-Pal to make your steps. EI: Score #1 page face up, score #2 page face down. It will make the step fold easier and have less chance of tearing a step.

Some Fun Things For The Day

The last order of sharing for this day is my new motorcycle helmet that my dear husband gave to me this weekend. There is a little story to go with this so bear with me. I have for many years had a very big dislike and fear of motorcycles the reason being I have worked in the Orthopedic Surgery field for almost 15 years and I have seen many a messed up person and also my dear husband almost lost his life on a motorcycle in 2005, so now you see why I have the dislike. Well the past two weekends have changed my view a little, I felt really bad every weekend when my hubby would ask me to go riding with him and his friends and their wives so I decided to give it a try, well I totally loved it. I even went to Galveston last weekend on the motorcycle, so my hubby got me a new helmet for the Galveston trip and here she is.

You should see the looks I get in this helmet it is funny. I love it though. It has the most beautiful colors and flourishes, but at the same time says I am tough. LOL!!!

The Next Level Issue #3 - Card Sketch 1

Welcome to week #3 at The Next Level. This week the challenge is to create a card with the sketch below. The twist is to make a removable tag in the card. I made the tag hidden to look like part of the card so there would be more of surprise when the card is opened. I then made a stick pen with dangle from the Vintaj jewelry line. The image is from Whiff Of Joy and is coated in UTEE to make it look like crackled glass. The flowers are from Prima and unfortunately I cannot remember the paper line I used as they were all scraps and there was no name on them.

Hint of the Week: When heating UTEE with a heat gun sometimes it will blow off the top of the page so heat it from the bottom it won't blow off and it give s a nice even surface when it cools.

The Next Level Issue #2 Challenge - A Ribbon Border Card and a Message of Friendship

This week at The Next Level the challenge is to try your hand at a ribbon border. I have to say at first I was very intimidated by the technique, but by the time I was done I was thrilled. Unfortunately I gave myself even more of challenge on this card because it was for a boy and I have never done a boy card before. To say the least though I am very happy with the end result. The theme for my card this week is Friendship, I think we will all be making lots of Friends here at The Next Level and for me that's what it's all about, Good Friends! Wow that was a lot of pictures, right? Well the materials list is pretty big too. so here we go.

Lastly Here is my tip of the week:

When crafting with ribbon you always have to be careful of your ends fraying, but that can easily be remedied by taking a lighter IE:(Bic) and just slightly edging it through the flame it will seal the ends and prevents fray.

"I Was Blown Away"

Well the title speaks for it's self. You could have knocked me over with a feather this evening when I opened my blog and found I had received an award from my very good friend Nina of Having An Art-A-Tack. She is a beautiful and multi-talented artist and greatly deserving of the award. You have to go by and visit her blog it is a crafters delight of so many different arts that she creates. Thank Nina, I feel so honored and pleased to have had this award passed on to my blog. I have only been blogging 8 months and paper crafting less than two years so this is a real delight to have received this with so many fabulous crafters on the world wide web.

The real joy in this for me though is that I now get to chose three very talented bloggers to receive this award too. I wish I could give it to all the blogs I follow and have listed in my favs, but I am limited to three. DARN! the luck. With that said I have chosen for the first recipient to be:

Fern of The Crafting Adventures of an 11 Year Old. She is only 11, but far beyond her years when it comes to paper crafting. Better Late Than Never a Very Special Announcement

Well what a beautiful day, today is the day I have been waiting for I made it onto The Next Level DT as a Guest DT memeber for the next 8 weeks. First please let me say I am sorry for the delay in posting I had a minor computer glich this morning, but all is back to normal. I have been waiting with anticipation for this opportunity and was just about to burst wanting to tell my friends. This was my third try for a DT spot and as they say 3's a charm. I am fairly new to the world of paper crafting with only about a little less than two year experience. I have to say though that I feel just like a duck in water everytime I start creating with paper. So here I am back again with another challenge project, this is an ATC for 2 different challenges. The first is for Tilda and Friends ATC Challenge they asked that we use more than one stamped image. House~Mouse Birthday Challenge #39

Well today I have kept it very simple and I have also been experimenting with my new Quickutz Silhouette. I got it for Christmas and I have just discovered how amazing this new tool is in my scrapping and card making arsenal. The card I produced today was made using a butterfly frame template from Mydiecuts.com . They have a great variety of GSD files for the Silhouette and the best thing is they are "free"! The stamped images I used are House~Mouse "Jumpin For Joy" #HMC1006 and House~Mouse "Mouse Feet" #HMA1002, the Happy Birthday sentiment is from a CTMH set. The images are colored in with prismas and gamsol and I accented the card with some half pearls from Basicgrey. Enjoy and Happy Crafting!

Tilda and Friends ATC Challenge " Make Your Own Background"

I am just crazy about ATC's, so guess what while surfing the net today I ran across the most amazing challenge blog for ATC's.The Tilda and Friends ATC challenge . This weeks challenge is to create a an ATC and the background from scratch. I just recently received my new Gorjuss Girls from Sugar Nellie and here is the creation I made for the challenge.

The back ground was made by applying green shimmer chalk in an oval pattern to the center of the card then filling the rest of the card with blue shimmer chalk. The flourish background was then stamped using Versamark and the Perfect Pearls was then brushed on using a soft fluffy paint brush. The colored and cut out image was them glued on and gems applied. Happy Memerorial Day and a Friendship Card

Good Morning and Happy Memorial Day from Houston, It's been very busy around here the past 10 days and I feel bad about neglecting my poor blog so I will be posting things on and off alot through this next week I have made a bunch of different projects I just need to photograph and get them posted.

I hope everyone has had a safe and happy holiday weekend, my husband and I made our first trip back to Galveston this weekend since Hurricane Ike hit the island last September and we are so pleased and happy to see all the recovery that is going on in the city it is almost completely back up and running. We were most pleased to see that the sea shore shop Murdoch's Bathhouse was being reconstructed and should be opened again in the spring of 2010.

I was also amazed at the power water has during a hurricane these are monuments that were built in very early 1900's to the construction of the sea wall in Galveston that was built to protect the city from storm surge.

Notice that the cap stones and the actual monument in it's self has been shifted by several inches it is an awe inspiring site to see this. These are several tons of solid granite and it will take a crane to reset these.

Well now onto the card I created for my Best Friend Kelly. She is so super sweet and has recently been through a rough patch in her life. She had to move from Houston back to PA last month and I miss her so much so I made her a card the other day after talking to her on the phone she just sounded like she needed a real pick me up so this is what I made her. The sketch came from Sketch Saturday #48 it was designed by Diane of Mad Ramblings.

Good Evening from Suburbia Houston! I hope all you fine ladies have had a wonderful Mothers Day. I had a great one I got some new goodies for my scrap room to keep me better organized and some gift cash to spend on what ever I want. My kids are terrific!!! So now down to some scrappy business I made my first Box-elope this week and I wanted to share it with you I think this is so neat. I keep making these 6x6 cards but yet have no way to send them or put them in any kind of decent envelopes. Well that has all been changed since I visited priscillastyles blog. She has the most amazing tool for making thick envelops it's a box-elope and it is so easy to make and they turn out beautiful. Here is what I made for my Moms Mothers Day card to go in.

Just recently I received my new order of WOJ Guardian Angel stamps and I have really wanted to create a card with this sweet little cutie "Melinda Musing" This was the perfect sketch to try her out on. The sketch was created by Heather over at the WOJ Challenge Blog. Here is Heathers sketch:

This card was created with WOJ "Melinda Musing" stamped image by Elisabeth Bell, the clouds were templates that I got from Mel Stampz blog I also used her embossing method to make faux stitches on the card, she is incredible thanks Mel! The clouds were embossed with the Cuttle Bug and then silver lined with a paint pen. I colored the image in with Copic markers and highlighted with a Signo white gel pen then glittered the wings. The PP is from K & Company's Wild Raspberry line. The card is embellished with assorted pearls, dots, ribbons and brads. Enjoy and thanks for looking!

This is my 2ND favorite time of year, I love how everything turns green, flowers bloom and the sweet smell of springtime drifts in cool breezes. So to celebrate I made this card. "Ode to Spring" I stamped the H~M image "Two-Part Harmony 02" stamp# HMG1006. I love how sweet they are singing their Ode to Spring! They are colored in with Prisma Pencils, OMS and blending stumps. I used a cuttle bug and folder to emboss the music note on the card. the Butterfly die cut is a QK club die. Thanks for looking and enjoy!

A Spoon Full of Sugar Sketch Challenge # 45 Lim's Sketch

This sweet beauty was created with Bazzill cardstock and Wild Raspberry paper stack from K & Company. I used my new nestibilities oval and scalloped oval die cutters, brads from Bazzill, pearls from Kaiser, G stamps, Prima flowers and assorted punches. The stamped image is "Demure" by Elisabeth Bell from Sugar Nellie colored in with pencils and blended with Gamsol and blending stumps. TFL and I hope you enjoyed.

My little card creation was made with Bazzill bright pink card stack, Bazzill dotted swiss card stock in teal, Prima PP stack "Sasha", Pebbles white candy dots, ribbon and decorated staight pin, The stamped image is "Wind Swept" by Elisabeth Bell for Sugar Nellie Stamps. I colored the images with copic markers and highlighted it with a white signo gel pen. TFL and I hope you enjoyed my little creation.

Sketch Saturday Challenge #44 & WOJ Challenge # 24 Distressing

Well its been a while since I have done this. So I have one card for two challenges the first is theWOJ Challenge #24 distressing so lets get dirty. I have also been surfing the net and come across some of the most amazing places and one in particular is the Saturday Sketch Challenge Blog. I love this Blog. They have the most amazing card sketches you have ever seen. Recently I invested in some of the Whiff of Joy and Sugar Nellie stamps I am totally addicted to these little beauties. I wanted to be able to show them off on some really good looking card desings and so here I am. This sketch is done by Dawn a Guest Designer over at Sketch Saturday I love this one.

So here is my take on the sketch:

I used the WOJ stamp "Melinda Blowing Kisses", Pink Paislee PP, Bazzill Card stock, Copic Markers with colorless blender, Kaiser pearls, Assorted Punches and Prima flowers.I also distressed alll the edges of the orinted papers and the image.

I think I got a little carried away with the flowers and ended up changing the overall look of the card sketch sorry I am new to this so bear with me. Enjoy and Happy Scrapping!

Whiff Of Joy Challenge #23

OGM!!!! Can you believe I am going to do 2 posts in one day? I have really fallen in love with these sweet little Whiff Of Joy stamps, they have amazing detail and can be colored with so many different art mediums. I have just started to experiment with copic markers and this is my very first time to post at WOJ. We were given a sketch designed by Donalda to create our card from here is the sketch:

I used my new WOJ " Willow Kneeling" stamped onto neenah solar white paper with momento black tuxedo ink. Then I used bazzill card stock and Debbie Mumm PP for the card I then embellished with MS flowers, prima say it with crystals, ribbon flower, assorted punches and the new Pebbles yellow candy dots. The sentiment was a CTMH just say it stamp. I have had a wonderful time making this little creation and hope to do more every week. Thanks for a great challenge and awesome sketch.

House~Mouse Challenge #22 Paper Piercing

Okay this is a new technique for me, I have never done paper piercing before. So I pulled out my trusty new nestabilities oval & scalloped oval and went to work, First I cut out, embossed and pierced the bottom oval. The House~Mouse stamp I used this time was Sweet Kiss # HMFR1004. The image is stamped onto 80# white card stock with Ranger archival ink in "Jet Black". I then colored those sweet cuties in with prisma colored pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol and blending stumps. I layered the card with bazzill bling paper in a light blue and the printed paper is an older one from Fancy Pants. The embossing was done with a cuttlebug swirl folder,"I LUV THAT THING!" the final touch was to use a Martha Stewart Dolley Lace punch on the edge of the blue bazzill bling, I think it gives the card an additional pierced paper look. House~Mouse DT Tryout

A very Exciting thing is going on over at the House~Mouse Monday challenge blog, they are having tryouts for two new DT members.I have only been card making for a short time, but thoroughly enjoy every minute of it so I have also decided to throw my hat in the ring. A few short weeks ago I ran across the House~Mouse Monday Challenge blog and was completely over taken by the amazing designs that were being created for these stamps. I would consider it an honor and a great privilege to be considered for one of the two spots available on the design team. I think I could bring some very simple and creative designs that all team members and bloggers could use and enjoy. I have ample time on my hands now that I am currently unemployed due to a retirement, and this will be my first try for a DT but, more than anything else I would love for it to be with this very creative and sweet design team and bloggers.

I have to say this weeks House ~ Mouse Monday challenge truly was just that
" A Challenge "! We had to create a card using only three colors and they were pre-selected for us. They were Coral, Olive & get this Navy Blue. Now I know what your thinking what a strange color combonation. I know I was thinking the same thing too, until I saw the DT creations. I was amazed! House~Mouse Challenge #20 Make an ATC

Finally!
The New Year has begun and life is getting into a more normal pace since the Holidays have ended. I am ready for things to slow down again and to get back into the regular activities of my everyday life,and with this comes the Monday Challenge over at the House~Mouse Blog. This week we are to make an ATC, (AKA) Artist Trading Cards. Well this is right up my alley since most of what I create with paper is ATC's. So here is my creation for this weeks challenge sorry about the picture it is slightly fuzzy. I just love little dancers and I recently got this sweet little H~M stamp as a christmas gift. She is called "Twinkle Toes" and she is stamp# HMGR1013. I colored her in with prisma color pencils and shaded her with Gamsol and blending stumps. The pink polka dotted paper is from Making Memories and the hearts are from Sandy Lion. The rub on is from the Basic Grey Two Scoops collection and so fits this sweet little dancing mouse. HM Challenge # 18 "A Friend In Need"

I am always amazed and inspired at the kindness of others and this is one of those times. Our challenge this week was to make a card from a pre-made sketch and give it someone in need. I think this is something everyone should do. When I made this card at first I thought to myself, "I really do not know anyone in need." That is where I was so wrong, after a little thought on the subject I found bunches of my friends and loved ones who could use a little pick me up. I have recently made so many cards they were beginning to collect, so for the new year I am going to be more proactive and start sending these cards to those I know of in need. The card for the challenge is made from Bazzill wash board texture in pink and dotted swiss in light yellow. The printed papers are from last valentines day,"Words Cannot Express" and "So Happy Together" they are made by Imaginisce. I stamped House~Mouse image "Take Time To Smell The Flowers" #HMUR1062 and then used prisma colored pencils and Gamsol with blending stumps to color in the stamped image.The punched boarder is also the same pink Bazzill used for the card. I embellished with some pink plaid ribbon and a stacked flower made from an embossed scallop, 2 Prima flowers and a light blue button. The "For You' stamped on the card is from CTMH "Say It In Style" acrylic stamp set D1283. I apologize for the scan of the card I have been unable to get a picture of it with my camera in good light, so the scan makes the colors look washed out due to the bright light in the scanner.

HM Challenge #17 "Let It Snow!"

Here is my card for this weeks House ~ Mouse Challenge. I sure have enjoyed creating these cards the past two weeks. This is the Muzzy To/From Stamp# HMER1011. I stamped the image with ranger archival ink in jet black on Cason 100 Aquarella 130# cold press watercolor paper. The image is was then colored in using Prisama colored pencils and Gamsol with blending stumps. I embossed the card with the Cuttlebug snowflake plate to keep in the let it snow theme. I them put red and green rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes. The card was then embellished with a stacked snowflake also keeping in the snow theme. The Snowflake was cut out using the Quickutz revolution and die with the white Doddlebug sugar coated paper. I used various punches for the scallops and Karen Fosters "Christmas Stripes" for the printed paper strip.

A newby to the House ~ Mouse Challenge Group

It's been over a month now since my last post and I have discovered the greatest place. It's the House ~ Mouse Challenge Blog. This is the cutest and most talented site I have been to in a while. I have had a few of these precious little mice hidding in my scrapbook stamp stash for a while and did not really know what to do with them until now. Here is the link
This will be my first time entering in the challenge. This week is Challenge #16 Glitter/Glitz. I have created an acrylic card with glittery snowflakes and then used baby blue stickles around Maxwell the mouse he is "Santa's Little Helper" Stamp #HMD1012 created by Ellen Jareckie if you are interested in obtaining any of her stamps go to House~Mouse Designs.
I colored the image in with prisma color pencils and used gamsol and blending stumps to shade him in. He is one of my favorite stamps, because he reminds me of a story book that my Grandmother used to read to me when I was a child. The book is called "Santa Mouse" and has a sequal book called "Santa Mouse Where are You!" So I just could not resist but to use this little gem of a mouse for my first entry into the House ~ Mouse Monday Challenge. The Crow King ATC

I am so excited Halloween is just around the corner, and with that I thought this cute little guy would be great for this post. I got his image from a vintage photo share on Flickr. I printed his image onto good sturdy card stock and very carefully cut him out I inked his edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink from Ranger. I also colored in the lace on his shirt with an orange Tombow marker. I put a small slit at his hand for the wand to go through so he would look like he is holding the wand.

Next I stamped out the butterfly wings onto 130 cold press watercolor paper with Ranger Archival ink. I then colored the wings in with Pentel oil pastels and used a blending stump to blend and soften the colors. I then coated the wings in Ranger Glossy Accents and dipped them into clear reflective micro beads that are made by Rolco. These give the wings an iridescent look and great texture without interfering with the color under it. The crow cut out is from Stampington's Tempting Templates section. The paper I used for the crow and the hat came from the Making Memories line it is the the Spooky Newsprint one. These were both inked in Black Soot Distress ink from Ranger. I added some extra black to his beak so he would not blend into the hat. Background paper is from Creative Imaginations and is called Fright Night.

The image of the crow is a stamp that I purchased from the Stamp Asylum in Dallas,TX. I used Ranger Archival ink for that image too. Once I completed designing my collage I xyroned the pieces and placed them on the card. I then used glaze medium made by liquitex to coat the entire card except the wings. The final steps were to glue a star and rhinestone to the end of his wand and I distress embossed the edges of the card with Black Soot Distressing powder from Ranger.

Halloween Is Almost Here!

Well it's that time of year again when the colors change, weather cools down and the cute ghouls and gremlins come looking for free candy. I was going through some photos I took last fall and thought they would be super to post for Halloween. The grave yard picture I took in Galveston,TX last August during our annual summer trip to the island city. I inverted the color of the picture in the Microsoft paint program to give it that spooky feel.

The grave yard was actually quit a unique place to tour. Some of the graves there dated back to as far as 1836 when Galveston was founded. While we were visiting Galveston we also took the haunted tour not only was it fun, but it was full of history. If you ever get a chance to visit I recommend you take the tour.

Then the next picture I found was the pumpkin I carved. That's right its a Dachshund! I just love how well the carving came out on it. I just wish I was able to get a better photo of it.

Here is what it looked like at night all lit up. The Kids just loved it. The back side of this pumpkin had paw prints cut out of it and when you lit it up the paw prints would glow against the back of any wall it was sitting near.

Tropical Background

WOW!

What a great weekend I had. I just came back from the Houston Scrapbook and Rubber Stamp Expo. I learned tons and spent way "too" much! LOL. These conventions are so great and the vendors are eager to share the newest techniques that are out there. So for my post I am going to show you a background technique I learned from the good folks at Rubbernecker stamps. I will add their link so you can see all the great stamps and products that they carry.

Well, lets gather our items and get to work you will need the following:
One 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 piece of heavy card stock, Ranger ink blending tool, Ranger blending foam, 2 Distress inks in coordinating colors, large floral rubber stamp, embossing pad, clear embossing powder, large background rubber stamp, heat tool, acrylic paint in contrasting color, paper towel, Ranger archival ink and rubber stamp that looks like hand writing.

Step 1:

Take and load your blending foam with the background color of your choice. Here I used the Ranger Distress ink in China blue. Start on the very edge of your card stock and in a fast circular motion start applying the ink to the paper. It is okay for the ink not to go evenly. This will give the piece more dimension and definition when complete.

Step 2:
Stamp your favorite floral pattern in the opposing corners of the card using the other coordinating color of ink. Here I used Ranger Distress ink in pealed paint. Then take the large background stamp you have have chosen and get it coated well with the embossing pad. I used a Versamark watermark for this step and then stamped the back ground over the entire card.

Step 3:
Quickly apply your clear embossing powder to the card tap off all the excess and then melt completely with your heat tool.

Step 4:
Now for the magic! take and completely cover the card with a contrasting color of acrylic paint. I used the Making Memories brand in chocolate brown. I applied it with one of those foam brushes that you get at Michaels. Now quickly before the paint begins to dry take your paper towel and wipe the excess paint from the card.

Step 5:
Take the rubber stamp you have selected to look like hand writing and and stamp the corner of the card with it. Remember to use Archival ink for this step it will stay on the embossed areas and will not smear off the card. Now there you have an amazing ATC background. Enjoy!
